Compress for the requirements you actually have
- Select a still image. Its format and oriented dimensions are checked before editing.
- Enter the maximum file size and choose a format and dimensions. Use Crop or Pad for exact dimensions.
- Prepare the image, review the requirement checks and inspect visual quality at 100%.
- Download the checked file. If the target was not reached, adjust the requirements or explicitly download the over-limit result.
Convert between JPG, PNG and WebP
Convert PNG to WebP or JPG, JPG to WebP or PNG, and WebP to JPG or PNG. Choose Convert for original dimensions with no byte limit, then select your output format. Review the checked result before downloading. PNG and WebP support transparency; JPG needs a background color. Only still images are supported.
What happens to your image
Output is re-encoded by your browser. Original EXIF, GPS and other metadata are not copied by this tool; browser-generated metadata may remain. Orientation is applied to the pixels. This is not a metadata sanitization certification, lossless file optimizer or color-managed prepress workflow. Wide-gamut and profiled images may look different.
A byte limit is a hard boundary
A file of 100,001 bytes fails a 100 KB limit here. A smaller file passes that size check even if the visual quality is poor. These are separate questions: the report checks requirements, and the preview helps you decide whether the result is usable.
Scope of this version
Single images only. No batch processing, HEIC conversion, animation, face detection, passport approval, DPI controls or automatic subject cropping. No files or settings are saved automatically.
Image compression and conversion FAQ
How can I compress an image to 100 KB?
Choose an image, enter 100 and KB as the maximum file size, then prepare the image. The tool checks the actual output bytes. Here 100 KB means 100,000 bytes. If no tested setting reaches the limit, the result is marked Target not reached. Try smaller dimensions or another format.
Can I resize and compress an image at the same time?
Yes. Preserve the original dimensions, fit inside maximum dimensions, or request exact dimensions. Exact dimensions require cropping or padding when aspect ratios differ. The tool does not silently shrink a fixed-size image to meet a byte limit.
What happens when the target size cannot be reached?
The tool shows the smallest result it found and which requirement failed. Downloading it requires the clearly labeled Download anyway — exceeds limit link. Target not reached describes this bounded search, not proof that all encoders would fail.
Will my image lose quality or transparency?
JPG and WebP use lossy browser encoding. PNG preserves the rendered pixels, but resizing, cropping, color conversion and flattening can still change the image. Transparent images need an explicit background color before JPG export. Inspect the result at 100%, especially small text and logos.
Are my images uploaded or saved?
No. Decoding, resizing, encoding and verification run in your browser. Image files are not sent to ActEasier, and this tool does not save sessions. Normal website asset requests still occur. Download your result before leaving.
Which files and limits are supported?
Use one still JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 20 MiB and 16 megapixels, with at most 8192 pixels per side. Output is limited to 12 megapixels. HEIC, GIF, SVG, PDF, animated PNG/WebP and multi-picture JPEG are not supported. Device memory may impose lower limits.
Does a pass guarantee acceptance by a website?
No. A pass checks only the entered pixel dimensions, file format and byte limit. It does not check passport rules, face placement, document legibility, hidden portal requirements, DPI metadata or legal eligibility.
How is compression selected?
For JPG and WebP, the tool tries browser quality settings from 100 down to 5 in steps of 5, stopping at the first result within the limit. PNG uses one lossless browser encode without palette reduction. Results can differ between browsers. The tool does not claim an optimal encoder or visually lossless output.
How do I convert PNG or JPG to WebP?
Choose Convert, load a PNG or JPG and select WebP as the output format. Original dimensions are kept and the byte limit starts blank. Click Convert & check image, review the preview, then download. WebP is re-encoded by your browser; this is not a promise of lossless conversion.
Can I convert WebP to JPG or PNG?
Yes. Choose Convert, load a still WebP and select JPG or PNG. For a transparent image, choose PNG to keep transparency or explicitly choose a background color for JPG. Converting to PNG does not restore detail lost in the source.
Why is the converted file larger than the original?
Formats and browser encoding settings can produce different file sizes. The report shows any increase. If the original already meets your format, dimensions and byte limit, you can keep it instead. The original retains its existing metadata. A conversion does not guarantee a smaller file.
