Wall-clock minutes only: no daylight-saving or timezone adjustment. This is not a payroll compliance check. Enter every relevant shift and align the start date with your actual workweek.

Decimal hours resolving to whole minutes, e.g. 37.5. Each week is calculated separately.

1–5; used only for overtime pay.

Two-decimal money units. No currency conversion, deductions or taxes.

Shifts & unpaid breaks

Use 24-hour times and explicit end dates for overnight work. Paid breaks stay included; add only unpaid breaks. Up to 100 shifts, 10 unpaid breaks per shift.

JSON files contain readable shift data. Import shows a summary before replacing the form. Saving a project does not mean its entries passed validation.

From punches to a checkable total

Start with actual clock-in and clock-out records. The calculator checks missing or invalid times, overlapping shifts and unpaid breaks outside a shift. It then subtracts unpaid breaks and assigns remaining minutes to each calendar day and workweek.

For example, a 22:00–06:00 shift with an unpaid 23:45–00:15 break contains 7 hours 30 minutes of paid time: 1 hour 45 minutes before midnight and 5 hours 45 minutes after it. If midnight begins a new workweek, those portions belong to different weeks.

Decimal hours are display values, not a second calculation: 7 hours 30 minutes is 7.50 hours, not 7.30. Totals and pay use the underlying whole minutes.

Compare rounding without replacing your records

The comparison rounds every shift and unpaid-break endpoint to the selected interval. It reports both gains and losses, even when they cancel in the period total. It does not determine whether a rounding policy is fair or lawful. A collapsed break or shift requires review rather than silently disappearing.

Frequently asked questions

How are unpaid breaks deducted?

Enter the start and end of each unpaid break. Paid breaks remain included. Timed breaks allow work hours to be assigned to the correct day and week, including overnight shifts.

How does rounding work?

Rounding is off by default. Optional nearest 5, 6 or 15 minute rounding applies separately to every shift and unpaid break endpoint; exact ties round forward. Original and rounded results remain separate. Invalid rounded intervals block the comparison, not the original calculation.

Does this calculate legally compliant payroll?

No. Overtime uses only your entered weekly threshold and multiplier. There are no daily overtime, holiday, tax or jurisdiction rules. Times are wall-clock values without daylight-saving or timezone adjustments. Verify your policy separately.

Can I save my time card?

Download a JSON project to reopen later, copy the report, export daily CSV totals or print. Nothing is saved automatically. Project files contain your entered shifts as readable text; keep them private.
