How to make a chore rotation
- Enter people and choose the Monday your plan starts.
- Add chores with a frequency and relative effort. Set a fixed person only when a chore must stay with someone.
- Mark unavailable weeks and generate your schedule.
- Review effort totals and unassigned chores. Adjust the inputs if the workload does not suit your household.
How assignments are chosen
Fixed chores are counted first each week. For each remaining chore, the planner considers available people, prefers someone who did not do that chore last time, then chooses lower total effort, fewer assigned tasks and finally input order. It may repeat a chore when only one person is available.
All weeks are planned in sequence. The planner does not measure actual time, ability or completed work. Avoiding a repeat can take priority over a more even effort total.
Chore rotation FAQ
How does chore rotation work?
For each week, fixed chores are assigned first. Other chores go to available people, preferring someone who did not do that chore last time, then lower accumulated effort, fewer tasks and input order.
What if the fixed person is unavailable?
That chore is shown as unassigned for that week. The planner does not give it to someone else or move it to another week.
Does Monthly mean every four weeks?
No. Monthly uses the same calendar day as your start date, or the last day of a shorter month. The chore is assigned to the week containing that date. All frequencies start in week 1.
Will everyone get exactly the same workload?
Not necessarily. Effort points are relative weights, not hours. Availability, fixed chores and avoiding repeats can produce uneven totals. The planner does not guarantee the most even possible schedule.
Can I save the plan?
